eBay Savvy Jonathan and my crazy friends

This morning I got up early (like 8:30) so I could watch some ballroom shoes on ebay and make sure that I didn't get sniped at the last minute. I hit the refresh button every 5 seconds or so for the last minute and at 20 seconds, another bid came in. GAH! I've been bidding on these shoes since last Monday! So, out of sheer despiration, I searched for more shoes and found some that were scheduled to expire in 2 minutes. I got there and using the lessons gained less than 58 seconds earlier, I waited until the last second and SNIPED THEM RIGHT FROM UNDER THE HIGHEST BIDDER!

Very satisfying.

In fact, this may be a good thing, because the first pair were size 8 UK and the second (that I won) were size 9 UK. I wear about a 9 1/2 or 10, so we'll see how they fit. If they don't fit, I can sell them to someone here at BYU.

After I finished exulting over my win, I checked my email and found an email that my dad had sent me. It had the following link to a San Fransico Chronicle article:

Omar's Exploits

I'm not sure how long this article will be in the SF Chronicle archives, but it was quite a way to start the day, lemme tell ya. I warked with Omar at Bear Creek Junior and Senior year. He's an amazing photo journalist and the images he takes are stunning. Check out some recent ones he took in Sri Lanka. Omar was always a gung-ho photographer and that can get you into trouble a lot. Journalists must always balance a desire to show things as they really are with their own responisibilites as citizens.

Let me know what you think.

Wow. It is a lot harder to defend your position of documentation only if the group says you were part of the push to act in the first place. Make sense? On the other hand, what is wrong, that he took the pictures or that he posted them?

Hey! Derrick told me about your blog. Very nice...I approve. But anyway, that whole spiel with Omar is craziness! Is Omar the only one being prosecuted, or is it the whole group? Because if it's only him, that's just wrong.

You said that you woke up early to watch some shoes on ebay? What are they feeding you there? You need more sleep! Have fun with that! This blog is so ingenious! You are so awesome!

Congradulations on the shoes.
I think there needs to be a general cultureal redefining of right and wrong...they've definitely become separate from legal and illegal.
Those pictures are AMAZING. He doesn't need college. He needs National Geographic, or rather, they need him.

Hey! Derrick told me about your blog... wait, that's exactly what Jennifer said, isn't it? Opps. Anyway, nice little blog you have here. Hmm, I heard about Omar, since SF Chronicle called the Duff for quotes (that they didn't use). Have fun with those shoes...
